2026 Robin Cook Internship

14 May
ICHS

An opportunity has arisen for young people to apply for the 2026 Robin Cook Internship which will involve a two-week paid placement during the summer 2026 working alongside Gregor Poynton MP and his team in his constituency and at the House of Commons. This is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of political life both locally and at Westminster.

The internship pays the Real Living Wage and is designed to give young people practical insight into public service, including exposure to casework, policy development and parliamentary processes.

Applicants are required to submit a CV and a 1,000-1,500 word essay on the theme:
"How Can Young People Shape the Future of the Livingston constituency?"

The application deadline has recently been extended to midday on Friday 15 May, to ensure that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to apply.

Please note that this is not a council led initiative, but it is an opportunity that young people may wish to explore. Applications to the Robin Cook Internship can be made directly to Gregor Poynton's office at gregor.poynton.mp@parliament.uk

If any young person wishes support with their application, they should make contact with their Head of House as soon as possible.
