P7 Visits (October 2025)

We had the pleasure of visiting our new Primary 7 cohort in October! Our S6 captains were on the road with Miss Quinn as they visited all 6 Primary schools, giving P7 pupils an insight into what life at Inveralmond will look like. The P7 pupils had the opportunity to ask some questions and they all contributed well!

We are looking forward to welcoming them to our school again over the up and coming months!

P7 Visits (May/June 2026)

In order to enhance and improve our P7 to S1 transition process for care experienced pupils, our care experienced lead (Mrs Drummond) will be visiting feeder primary schools shortly to introduce herself as a trusted adult and get to know the young people before August.

This process will also involve talking to the staff at the primary schools to understand how to make this process as positive as possible this year and in future years.

Uniform

In Inveralmond Community High School our aim is to is to work together to achieve excellence and equity for every young person. We want all young people to aspire to the highest possible standards and to achieve their best. We believe that high standards of uniform are part of our aspirational culture. There are three key reasons why we believe this is important.

Aspiration

Our uniform policy aims to ensure that all young people are dressed in a way that conveys our high standards and aspiration. We greatly appreciate the support of parents and carers in ensuring that our young people dress in a way that befits a school environment. Ensuring all young people are dressed to a high standard contributes to the wider culture of the school in relation to aspiration, as well as being an essential life skill for the world of work. As a school we want our pupils to look as smart as any pupil from any other school, ensuring that positive impressions of our young people on the wider community are lasting.

Equity

Our uniform policy is also designed to ensure that no young person looks different from another, removing the pressure on families to buy expensive branded items. It is also designed to ensure that no individual stands out as being different; ensuring all young people can feel part of our community.

Safety

Our uniform ensures we can identify any young person within the school as an Inveralmond CHS pupil. This has a safety benefit, as anyone who should not be attending ICHS would be identifiable quickly at a glance. There is an added benefit as young people can be identified as school pupils as they travel to and from school.

Our Uniform

Our uniform policy remains unchanged; however, we have recently changed uniform provider. We are delighted to be able to offer a range of high-quality items to suit all needs. Our uniform policy has a range of options available and for this reason we ask that young people only wear items which are listed.

Uniform Policy

Buying Uniform

Uniform items can be bought directly from BE Uniforms' website where you will find a dedicated Inveralmond Uniform Shop. BE uniforms offer a discount and the time period for this has been extended for Inveralmond CHS families. BE Uniforms also have a uniform club which enables the cost of uniform to be spread throughout the year. Here is a link to the dedicated Inveralmond CHS shop: https://www.borderembroideries.co.uk/schools/inveralmond-community-high-school.html (opens new window)

All of the items in our uniform policy can also be bought in high street stores and supermarkets. Please note that not all items sold as 'uniform' will comply with our uniform policy, please refer to the policies when purchasing items. To support with this, we have a uniform graphic on our website, as well as a document which illustrates acceptable uniform items.

Please note that not all items sold as 'uniform' will comply with our uniform policy, please refer to the policies when purchasing items.

Support with Costs

We encourage anyone who is eligible for free school meals or a uniform grant to apply for these now via this link: https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/mealsandclothing (opens new window)

We recognise that some families may not be eligible for the school clothing grant. This does not mean that uniform is affordable to all families who do not qualify. If, for any reason, you are finding accessing uniform difficult due to associated costs, please get in touch with your child's house leader who can apply for uniform. The school will ensure every young person can be in full uniform if there are barriers to this.

We greatly appreciate the support of all parents and carers in ensuring our young people adhere to our uniform policy, are ready to learn, and creates the positive impression we want for our young people. If you have any questions or we can support in any way, please use the 'contact us' button on the top right-hand corner of our website to get in touch.
