As a response to the Cost of Living Crisis a short life working group has brought together Community Planning Partners, local authority and the third/voluntary sectors to consider practical ways in which we can support people affected by the Cost of Living Crisis in West Lothian.

Some key actions that the short life working group have been working are:

  • 'welcoming warm places' across West Lothian which can provide a warm space for people to rest in addition to acting as a hub where they can access advice and support in relation to the cost of living
  • Practical help and support through the development of self-help booklets, which will be held in a central location to allow support to be accessed easily and quickly
  • Working with key community groups by taking advice and support to communities over the winter months, this will help to increase uptake of entitlements and allow people to access other financial support through grants and vouchers
  • Refresher training for frontline staff to remind colleagues on services across West Lothian that can help and support
