Ladywell Community Council embarked on a project last year with our local community after successfully applying and receiving a Grassroots 2 Public Grant Award from the Public Arts.
The brief was to create a piece of public art for the local area. The areas chosen were the four underpasses, Heatherbank, Burnbank, Pinebank and Thymebank.
The group were very busy, they advertised the artists brief, interviewed artists and then appointed Amy Whiten and her partner Ali from Recoat Design.
Amy and Ali are very experienced artists and have done many public art projects. Lots of local Community groups including Elderberries, Community Centre Groups and The Hungry Holidays members and of course the schools including Inveralmond, Cedarbank, Harrysmuir, Ladywell Nursery and Inveralmond Early Years were involved in the final design.
The local nurseries and school children worked very hard at their workshops, and we are sure they will be delighted to see their art work in the underpasses within the next few weeks. They will also be involved in the painting of the designs to the underpasses and are very much looking forward to this.
