Teamwork through sharing expertise, ideas and developing strategies for teaching and learning excellence is a major feature within the department.

The Design and Technology faculty occupies an area on the ground floor of the school and consists of three spacious workshops, one dedicated to metalwork, two to woodwork and a Graphics Area.

In addition there are two fully equipped Graphic Design studios and a Computer Suite. There is also a Staff Base, a Saw room/Timber Store and model storage areas.

The faculty is well resourced; the spacious workshop facilities are aimed at offering a wide range of design processes and activities. Presently our specialist rooms, design studios and workshops have been equipped to deliver Graphic Communication and Practical Craft skills courses.

The three Design studios are well equipped with ICT; each room has 20 desktop computers, an electronic smart board and connection to a dedicated Konica Minolta WorkCentre for printing and photocopying. These facilities provide opportunities for the students to stretch their ability. However, the intuitive design of the above does mean that we have the capability to adapt and change to future innovations.

The Design and Technology faculty provides students with a varied and engaging range of subjects that both challenge and stimulate, they offer a varied selection of subjects at appropriate levels for students. Strong support and careers advice is offered to those wishing to move into related areas after leaving school.
